THE MINDSET.

A lost set and a 1–4 deficit — and a match still won.

Pressure is the part of the match I prepare for.

In the third qualifying round in Vienna I was a set down, trailing 1–4 and facing 15–40. I stayed in the match, won it, and went on to reach the final.

I play better when the pressure rises. I run for every ball and I don’t accept a lost point until it is lost. When a match gets difficult, I go back to the work I have done and commit to the next ball.

“Every move matters.”

VIENNA / THIRD QUALIFYING ROUND

5–71–415–40

I won that match. Then I went on to reach the final.

PRESSURE IS WHERE I BELONG.
